Senior Consultant and Social Media Expert
Silvia consults on strategic communication and social media for international organisations and corporations. With 18 years of experience, she has advised the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank, UniCredit Group, the Aga Khan University, the Chilean Economic Development Agency and the World Health Organisation.
Her background includes reporting from Central and Eastern Europe, from a base in Prague in the early 1990s, for major German and British print media as well as managing communication for Brussels-based international trade associations.
Silvia is the author of “International Communications Strategy – Developments in cross-cultural communications, PR and social media” published by Kogan Page and nominated for the Financial Times Goldman Sachs Awards. Her blog, www.silviacambie.com, is read by 19,000 each month. She is a recognised public speaker who has addressed audiences worldwide including South Africa, Russia, Malaysia, Dubai, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Chile, the US, France, Spain, and the UK.
The social media strategy she developed for the European Training Foundation, an agency of the European Union, has won IABC’s Gold Quill and EMErald Awards 2011. This project helped promote prominent bloggers and users of social media who later went on to play major roles in the Arab Spring of 2011.
She speaks five languages and currently consults with UniCredit Group, the European Training Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme.
